CNC/metal lathe and fabrication advice

I wanted to make this device as a prototype/proof of concept for someone

It’s pretty small and would only be about 5cm wide and about 3cm tall

I’m thinking of making the part in the right with the metal lathe, and the part on the left using the mini CNC

I have some experience on the CNC with small wood projects, none in metal, and no experience at all with the metal lathe

And and all advice is welcome!

Did you have a material in mind? Aluminium is very doable on the mini CNC, but steel is a bit beyond it’s capabilities

Yeah aluminium is what I had in mind, I think maybe conceptually for like the real thing stainless steel, but for this Aluminium is more than enough

I’m still learning the ropes myself, but I’ll be machining some aluminium parts on the mini cnc in the next week or so & can walk you through the steps - it’s not too different to wood except you have to pay a lot more attention to how you clamp the workpiece since the forces involved are way stronger
