its not fair to say that we are doing that for everything. That’s not happening. I’ve asked for more time and we will not be pushed into doing stuff before we are ready.
The textiles area has been a mess for months and had continuity been used as a dumping ground.
I tied it up recently and it has happened again.
I’m not asking for anything electronics hasn’t had the opportunity to do for months and you have only just got round to doing it. Now in the same week you have come up with your plan you suddenly want us to get going when we haven’t had the same opportunity to look at things. It’s unfair to expect us to do in less than 24 hours what you have had months to do.
Textiles need to meet and discuss this and we need the space cleared. Exactly what electronics have had.
We are working together to move the stuff.
I’ve arranged a clean up day and we are working towards that. The more people that got on board the better. If you fancy signing up that would be great. Or if you can help out in the build up to that that would be great too. If people could get behind helping us instead of hurrying us that would be helpful.
The help would be great. Not sure of my plan yet.
wanted a break from SLMS and to do something normal but I’m getting dragged back in again there goes my weekend
No you’re right. Textiles or the table have no impact on the electronic benches.
I think it’s fair for members to have their say. You did precipitate this debate by reacting to @stefanoromano’s post with a major upheaval in the clean room.
Your efforts are greatly and often publicly appreciated.
REALLY?? I mean REALLY???
what is goin on?
I’m messy and used to mess but for God sake!
Is not about the mess, is about RESPECT for someone that spent a whole freaking night disentangling cables, looking for suitable boxes and labeling everything!
Where are all the boxes that I made? Why a lot of things that were In those boxes are out again? Can you tell me what THE HELL was wrong with my sorting???
you guys want to change the layout of the room? Fine!
New stuff come in and is waiting for sorting? Fine!
New construction activities are going on and space is needed? Fine!
But in no case at all I can understand the undoing of someone else job! Everything that I did was done in a way that allow to move stuff without messing up with the sorting. There was NO NEED to undo my job.
Is not respectful, not polite and really bother me!!
Let’s take the good stuff from this thread and combine it with practicalities of the space.
Seems like the original layout was more popular than was thought, and that some desks along the side wall could be useful and should at least be trialled without junk on them.
Storage. There seems to be a case being made for only having as much storage as is absolutely necessary. This is to avoid build up of junk and unrelated gear being stored in either electronics or textiles areas.
I suggest we take this on board, along with Pip’s layout suggestions, but restore the clean area to a version of its former layout for the time being. Stacked up desks just feel wrong! Although it demonstrates quite well how much electronics gear could be stored.
Along with clearing out non-relevant items this will bring a marked benefit to the clean room.
Can’t recall discussing the length of the bench but if we can fit in electro bench, computer / design / CAD station, large format printer and vinyl cutter and textiles get what they need then go for it
Cool, my memory fails when I’m tired, i vaugely remember. Yeah if it all fits in go for it. I can give you illustrator original for dimensions if you need it?
