Hi all, I was in the space yesterday evening and it was very messy. Floors and walls with lots of clay, lots of dust, dirty tools and sponges not washed. I spent a lot of time before and after my session cleaning up (thankfully with some help from @Endri who was in the wood shop). Here are some photos of what it looked like when I arrived:
I think I spent around 2 hours cleaning in total. I wiped down both wheels, wiped the walls, cleaned tools, cleaned sponges, and cleaned and mopped the floor. The space should be in a very good state for anyone to use today. Here’s a couple of photos of how I left it last night:
Both times I’ve been in recently I’ve had to do extra cleaning. As @Laura_Aznar_Herranz has mentioned, everyone really needs to allow around 30 - 45 after even a short throwing session to make sure the space stays clean and as dust free as possible. If just a handful of people don’t spend the time, then it falls to others to do extra cleaning when they use the space and that doesn’t seem fair.
I also to mention there’s no reclaim ready at the moment; but plenty of new clay available to buy.
Oh yes! @CeramicsTechs met recently and we are keen to get the tool control sorted but have no idea where to start. @lewisss - do you know who could help us get it up and running?
@danielbenton - yes I believe everything is there for the tool control node (I’m somewhat guessing though), not sure why it’s been out of order. It’s meant to turn on the power to the 2 wheels (though we’ve also talked about adding a 3rd wheel and the kiln project is kicking off again so it may need to power more things in future). @Laura_Aznar_Herranz - I think I have this right, just tagging you in case you’re aware of anything I’m missing.
Yes - basically it turns on/off all the electricity in the ceramics nook (bar the lights which are controlled from the switch in the metal shop and the actual fob reader which obviously works before you turn the node on as you need it to turn it on if that makes sense) - so not only the 2 wheels but also all other sockets in the area (which fixes the issue re adding more tools).
Yes, we have tool control in place for the wheels/ceramics area. One of the safety relays was diagnosed as broken by @joeatkin2. I purchased a replacement within two weeks, but it was used in the metal area instead. After chasing this for over a year, I eventually gave up.
Thanks @Laura_Aznar_Herranz and @Karin - I knew I probably had some missing info! Great we know what the issue is, be awesome to get it sorted. I assume the next step is to buy the replacement for the broken part? I really am completely clueless here, so appreciate all help and expertise in this area
