In general, it would probably be easier all round if we bought in separately for in-space stuff, but in practice that’s not always feasible so personally happy for this sort of thing to come from the shop if it’s what’s needed to get it done. Happy to be led by @naxxfish on this one though.
At the moment the way I’m managing the shop is there’s a ledger - I buy the materials, then claim that back with a reciept. Then periodically I empty the cash box and BACS the appropriate amount to the SLMS account.
So in terms of actual money, the space has already purchased the materials. According to the ledger, though, if people use materials without paying for them it looks like we have a loss. We should record that something has been used for a space project, otherwise we’d end up assuming any loss is due to space projects, and wouldn’t know if we’re running to track or not. Also, it’d be a good way to use space money without authorisation (probably not the best thing).
I think I’d be happier if I could record when these things happen with a director’s approval, just so it doesn’t look like I’m stealing money
Nice! Very smart. I don’t know if you’re a Laura Kampf fan, but if you check out her YouTube channel she built something similar with inbuilt cutters. Maybe an improvement for the next couple?
Laura Campf’s vids are excellent - she also does occasional collaborations with Adam Savage (check out one day builds on youtube if you’ve not seen them, his recent stuff is awesome) and Jimmy Diresta.
