Button holes?

Hi all,

I need to make some button holes ( vertical slit that is seen around the edges) in some window covers… I have a vague memory of there being a specific foot for the sewing machine to do this…

3 questions:

  1. is this a thing?
  2. Does the makerspace machine have one?
  3. are they horrendously complicated to use?

2)Yes
3)No, but they can occasionally go mad and make forbidden holes with infinite sides / Eldrich horrors so it’s worth doing a few test goes before you do it on anything precious.

I did button holes with the Janome machine we have. I found the manual pretty straightforward to follow for it, just make sure to use the right foot!

Also, the foot for the janome is in a compartment on the front of the machine
