BUMP BUMP- Clearing out the Snug - January

When we did the Spring clean last April I asked Jonathan – who has responsibility for Systems – to decide what he wanted to keep, and we kept the stuff according to what he said

Did he say something different to you?

Anyway: there’s no problem with Kylie asking if the gear is still needed, considering it’s not been touched for years

Yes, I have had conversations about getting rid of pc equipment with Jonathan and the conclusion was that we don’t need it all.

There were a few cleaning events last year and different things may have been said to different people at different times.

The point I’m trying to make is I’m not sure that quoting one thing that one person may or may not have said once as gospel is nessercily always helpful.

I think however WE do need to be constantly vigilant about the messages we project. Especially when that comes from directors.

I think we need to be responsive, dynamic, clear, positive and empowering to members especially when they offer us help. We haven’t always been good at that.

I say that because I think tech contributions (bar a couple of clear exceptions) and moral appear to be at an all time low, the space is messier than ever, many members have left because they can’t get inductions, can’t use tools, can’t contribute meaningfully or are just fed up of the politics and / or the mess. In the worst cases key members have been marginalised, disenfranchised and in some cases bullied out.

From what I have seen, this isn’t always helped by a lack of leadership / and unclear or missing messages of support from the directors.

It’s up to you how you take that but that’s my experience.

Can you clarify what “unlisting” a thread does?

The thread doesn’t seem to appear in the latest topics any more…

…yep the thread doesn’t show up any more.

Unlisting means the thread is no longer listed in Categories, but still shows up in Latest if you’ve participated in it.
