I’ve been casually on the hunt for a myford lathe for when I move back into my house (staying with the inlaws’ at the moment while our place is fixed up). While doing my usual searches one day I came across this little oddity of an accessory and had just had to buy it, even though I don’t even have the lathe yet!
It’s a horizontal milling attachment! Apparently one end goes into the spindle and the other end clamps onto the tailstock’s quill. Maybe I live in a cave and people see these all the time but in all my years I’ve never seen anything like it for the lathe. Of course I’ve seen droves of the various vertical milling attachments all over the place but I couldn’t find so much as a single forum post talking about this thing.
I guess you mount the stock to the cross feed and go to town. Anyway, just sharing with you guys because I think it’s neat and if there was a chance anyone else might appreciate this weird thing it would be one of you. I genuinely can’t tell if it’s stupid or amazing, but in any case it’s mine now. Going to disassemble it and give it a refurbishment.
