Book shelf

Hello,

Apologies to anyone who has already read my question. I just realised that I didn’t post my query in the right forum.

I am just writing to ask about my bookshelf project. I currently have a very old and battered Conran bookshelf that I plan to paint bright orange. I would love to be able to do this at home, but unfortunately the project will require several coats of primer and a lot of sanding, so there would be too much dust for me to do this in my flat.

I am writing to ask if a project of this size would be alright in the makerspace? I do live nearby and I am currently between jobs, so I would hope to have this finished quite quickly.

@welcome, @directors has anyone got an answer?

From a size point of view it’s exactly what the ‘assembly space’ part of the ‘messy workshop’ is intended for.

Sanding would need to be done in the dusty (or woodwork) workshop as messy is intended to be low dust, unless it’s just keying between coats of paint.

As you will be aware a fair amount of work is going on in these spaces, but it would be great if we can accommodate this. Opinions @pip (messy space) and @woodtechs (dusty) what do we need to do to make this work for everyone?

I just attended the open evening and collected my fob. I am organising to bring my project up this Saturday (fingers crossed) and Pip I have been told that I should get in touch with you ahead of time @pip

Jake

Hi Jake

Messy space would ideally be kept dust free so sanding should be in the wood workshop or outside.

I’m away this weekend, ask other members when they’re planning to be in the space to let you in

Good luck with the project!

Similarly, we should be trying to keep noisy and messy making out of the clean room which has been happening a bit recently.

This is a little off topic?

Yes, it is a little aside.
