Blacksmiths Vice

A blacksmiths vice was lurking in the metal shop and looking a bit sorry for itself.
Roman suggested it would be a nice little project to tackle.

So I set about dismantling it, this took a bit of persuading with a club hammer to release the dynamic jaw that was seized up with rust.

I then stripped off all the old paint and rust.

Some of the hardware was then painted with Hammerite, some treated with bluing.

Reassembled with some lithium grease and light oil, and we have another serviceable vice in the space.

Was a fun project to get my teeth into!
