Bike stolen outside Makerspace today

A red motorised bike was stolen outside the Makespace this afternoon. It was attached to the leg of the table. The thieves sawed through the leg ( with a saw they left behind - possibly borrowed from the workshop ??) and took the bike.

Just a warning not to leave anything outside!!

Ouch, that’s not cool… It did look abandoned and had been there for 3+ weeks, but luckily we have CCTV!? @directors

Oh no. We can have a look at the cctv. Hopefully there is line of sight to the cameras or at least we see the person with the saw approaching.

Would some new be able to upturn and label the table as well. As this is no longer safe to use either.

@woodtechs is that one of our saws?

Some of outer hardpoint saws are bad, but not that bad!!!

The table can be repaired easily. Piece of wood and six coach bolts

Would be good to see how the directors find the footage (useful or otherwise) as we can explore additional cameras if not.

I’ve taken the saw indoors since it didn’t seem very safe leaving in on the street. It’s in the woodshop above the shelf by the entrance if anyone wants to play forensics with it.

I highly doubt the saw is one of ours.

That belonged to @Mubaricks.

@BikeTechs the shared lock and chain has also been stolen.

ArchCo are responsible for these losses, and should compensate the victims.

I think you’d struggle to convincingly argue in a legal setting that removing a bike rack forced anyone to lock their bike to a wooden table.

Yeah, I know…
STILL! grumbles uselessly

Sorry to hear someone’s bike was stolen. The lock and chain lent to the space by @danielbenton were hefty, so it’s an additional shame they’re gone.

If the arch co don’t want permanent locking points on their property, maybe they’d be ok with us having removable solution?

Bike lock and chain was in the bike area a few days ago. I think whoever took it is on camera

Please can we acquire a replacement loaner lock with a similar amount of heft to it please?
