Big TV - Samsung 40"

Details

The model is Samsung le40b530p7w, a 40-inch flat screen monitor, mounted on the wall.

The rear panel connections look like this:

The HDMI-to-HDMI cable looks like this:

During Use

You plug in your laptop or other video source to the HDMI cable. The monitor will select the source automatcially after about 5 seconds, you don’t have to press any buttons at all.

Should you ever need it, you can select a particular source with the “Source” button of the remote control, or the “source” button at the little panel at the bottom of the right-hand side of the screen (viewed from the front).

After Use

Please leave the HDMI-to-HDMI cable plugged into to HDMI source 1. This is because only this source has no overscan, so you can see the whole image (which is necessary for computers and better for films).

Maintenance

Note this set had power issues in the past. Very intermittently, the backlight would turn off a short while after powering on. If this happens, turn off and come back later – power cycling etc. does not help.

While this issue has not been seen at Makerspace, if you have an event that relies upon this screen, then it would be prudent to turn it on at first opportunity and leave it on – once on for a few minutes, it would stay on.

There is a genuine remote control and a compatible one bought from ebay (that needs to be put in a backup location and that noted here).
