Big CNC unable to home [fixed]

I’ve just come to use the big CNC and it seems it’s unable to home. I turned it all on, connected from LinuxCNC, clicked “Home All”, the spindle raised and then seems to be trying to home but is hitting the limit, making a horrible noise in the process. I hit the Estop

Any advice @CNCtechs?

Ouch, sounds like it is not seeing the limit switch… see if the sensors are dirty/dusty? The yellow things with red leds…

The limit sensors look to be clean. I tried it again and the same happened. I’m unsure of if it’s making the noise when it gets to the limit or if it is making it all the time when trying to travel in X direction.
I’ll put an out of order sign on it until the @CNCtechs can take a look.

Yea maybe a wire connection to the sensor then… boo

Thank you James for reporting. All very strange. We just used the machine yesterday for an induction without a problem.

I see if I can make it the coming days in to have a look if Archie doesn’t beat me to it.

Ok… Wow never happened before… We need to check on the machine. Please anybody else who used it last ( other than James)… Any weird behaviour to report? They could be related

I’ve got the Big CNC working again.

It moved past its limit switch and must have tried to engage against its physical limit when running the homing routine but not detecting the limit of the y axis.

Ouch, nice easy fix though! Thanks!!

Great, thanks Christian. Glad it didn’t turn out to be anything major!
