Bandsaw back in action?

Just checking if anyone in the wood shop has seen if the bandsaw is back in operational use?
Would be great to use tomorrow

I just saw today that there’s an out of order sign on it, I believe it said there was an issue with the insert but could be wrong on that

Yeah the insert broke while I was cutting something the other day - if you’re comfortable laser cutting a new one there’s nothing mechanically wrong with the bandsaw itself

I’ve never used the laser cutter I’m afraid,
Don’t suppose anyone coming down tomorrow would be up for helping on that front?
I could have a look at making one in the wood shop but someone on the laser cutter would be ideal

The bandsaw is currently out of action pending the laser cutter being back up - I am down tomorrow to see if anything can be done in the meantime.

Ok thanks, the woodtechs are not in every day, so if something breaks you need to post on here as well and tag @woodtechs and not just leave a sign on it. Hope that makes sense!

Also the laser is back up and running….

When are you coming in? Could do with getting some pieces cut tomorrow afternoon if a new insert is back in by then. Pending if that’s possible of course

I will post when it’s back up, but I wouldn’t necessarily count on it being done today.

The file for a new insert should be on the share drive under my user (mbg)

Fortunately two of them were in when it snapped, given the number of laser cutters I probably should have stuck a post on here as well in case anybody fancied a mini project

Someone has made a suitable temporary throat plate and the machine is now back in safe working order. Please can all users take care with it until we get a stack of spares in :+1:
