@3dtechs - Is there another way to connect to the printer? I am really struggling to get any SD cards to read or stay in. Ive tried the one thats in the printer and my own one (the other printer is in use). I assume once i get it start the SD card doesnt actually need to be there, but i would quite like to get the video footage if possible, no worries if not. Let me know if there are any solutions

The sd’. The machines seem a bit dodgy at the moment feel free to format them to see if that helps. No other way to connect I’m afraid as enabling the login ad wifi for general use will rapidly turn into a hot mess
yeah ill have another go at formatting. But the machine isnt even recognising that there is an SD card in it. The only thing i can think of in the immediate is to take the front panel apart (i wont do this, well wont without approval anyway). I will have a look into get a couple of micro SD to normal SD converters so we can use them to put the micro sds into for the future
It can be a fiddle to get the SD card to click into the port right, and then it takes about 5 seconds for the files to show up confirming that it’s slotted in correctly and can be read. I’ve always had to insert and retract the SD card a few times to get it in right.
Just in case this helps
yeah ive had at this and still nothing, some of the other will be in later so hopefully they can have a look
Would something like https://thepihut.com/products/micro-sd-card-extender-68cm-26-inch-long-flex-cable help?
This is exactly what I was thinking, then we can just fix the read to the side of the machine
The tape that was added to te sides of the cards does seem to effect the clicking in of the micro sd. This might the root of the issue if its not making good contact in the printer. The extensions could work but if we can solve the issue without them, I would prefer not to add an addition point of failure
I’m not disagreeing - however would it be better to have most used/likely to get worn/damaged part of the printer’s user interface to be a part that’s quick and cheap to replace? compared to risks of SD cards being inserted incorrectly/tape causing issues.
I have my own card so I can slice before I head in, and go right to the printer (other wise I spend half my booked time fiddling around with minor settings).
It may be a dumb thing, but what tripped me up more than once was it can take a little while to recognise a card. And there’s no indication its doing anything, just looks like there’s no card.
Just got in and had a look, even with the tape removed from the SD card it isn’t registering on the printer. Have completely reformatted the card and still nothing. Even when trying to format the card through the printer itself it says that no SD card is detected. It doesn’t register the SD card from Robert either which is working fine in Robert.
will be down in a bt. Hopefully the sd reader in the display isnt damaged. though its a replaceable part so not the end of the world.
Right Johannes is back in action. All I really did was diagnose the situation make it worse, twice and the @scythian transplanted a new micro sd card reader to the internal board.
To all @3dprinters please be very careful with the micro SD card port on Johannes. We will very shortly be getting the extension ports so that port wont need to be actively used soon.
Thanks,
Sam
