Baby cot - safety requirements

My wife and I are expecting a baby in November, and I thought I’d have a go at making a cot myself. Am planning something relatively simple, a bit like this one that will be put together mostly with pocket screws:

But I’m well aware that there are BSI standards for gaps between bars, height of bars etc.:

Does anyone have access to these regs? Or have any other advice?!
Cheers

I thought about building a cot for my son, but decided against it. I reckoned he’d only need it for a year at most and my efforts were better spent making something that would last longer! Plus there’s all the BS stuff to worry about…

But don’t let me put you off!

Have a look at EN 716-1:2008. Its should be easy to get hold of. Same standard but has en number on it
New Zealand is often a good place to start looking for stuff if our government changes for it they mostly rebadge uk stuff and dont charg

bs documents are expensive , but if you contact your local library, to see if they have access to the bsi library online, you can view them there

It’s worth considering buying the mattress slatted base rather than making one… you can always reuse this item. I did when constructing my sons batman bed from his previous cot…
Batman bed.
I work for a big engineering company, will see if I can get my hands on that bsi doc for you…

Thanks - do you have any recommendations for where to get them? Cheers @joeatkin2 & @lewisss for the ideas!
Not you, @RichM - with your common sense and reasonable ideas…
