AutoCAD book

Hey @tomnewsom (and anyone else who knows AutoCAD)

I’ve been recommended this book

Engineering Drawing From First Principles: Using AutoCAD (Revision & Self-assessment) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0340691980/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Vfc2ybXRYEXXJ

Do you know it? My only hesitation is that it’s nearly 20 years old…

So the great thing about autocad is that it’s version 30 or so and nothing gets deprecated. If you’re a dinosaur who learned on separate monochrome text and vector displays, with a pre-mouse “digitiser” then all your techniques are still valid. This book is about the same vintage as my own formal training, so you’ll do just fine, but modern versions of autocad will confuse and fight you with their 21st century fanciness.

But really, I’d only bother with it if you’re more interested in the engineering drawing lessons. If you just want to learn autocad, there are loads of free resources out there, all much more up to date.

Thank you! :grinning:

I might still have a copy in the house. Will check tonight if you are interested in a long term loan.

Sounds ideal! Thank you.

Could not find it. Might have gone to charity shop. Sorry. This is the one I kept:

No worries
