@Courty You mentioned a workshop powerpoint for your intro to arduino on Sunday, is it something that you could share with us? Also is there a schedule for your workshops?
Arduino Day - Planning
Shall I launch the mailshot?
Did Dermot update his prose? I didn’t have time to edit.
I’ll have to send it over later. There’s a few important nuances that need changing.
For workshops – simple solution have signup spaces on a blackboard in the space. Some members have already expressed an interest for Sunday’s workshops. Can we have a time and confirmation of them @Courty? We can also tout free Sunday workshop spaces on Saturday.
Soldering can be adhoc: once you have 3 interested people? @unknowndomain and spare badges knocking around? Otherwise anything cheap we can get in time?
I’ll bring some more over later.
Thinking of doing the workshops on demand and by request but as a guide how about the first Arduino one to start at 11:30 and the ESP one at 13:30 ?
Others arranged as people sign up (I like @Dermot’s idea of having a sign up blackboard)
Will send you over the PPT in a mo
Courty
Thanks Paul for sending the PPT. I’ll add those timings to the meetup page. For Sat we can do one at 1.30 and maybe another later if there is demand/capacity. Is there a quiet(ish) space with large screen available for the workshop?
There is a small break out area just behind the kitchen with two sofas and a 40" tv. its open to the main workshop though. This is where I did the courses last year and it did work albeit a little tight. would suggest the ideal number of participants is 5.
Under normal circumstances we would open up the screen and projector and be able to have lots more people but that would take out the main tables so a no go for the weekend
Courty
I realise that this is potentially good for the maker space, but if room is an issue then why isn’t this held at LHS ? Just curious is all.
LHS are more than welcome to hold their own event for Arduino Day. One does not preclude the other.
just because we’re not LHS…
Because we can is a fair enough reason I guess.
It’s more than 'cos we can. It’s because we do!
There being a huge gulf between those things =]
Nicely said, I like it.
Email has been sent.
Do you have any photos?
A quick update on our programme this Saturday:
Activities:
- 1.30pm Intro to Arduino by Lily Madar
(We could run more sessions depending on demand / capacity, and I think Andreas and Hannah volunteered as well) - Build a flashing badge: we could do this as well (can we have an idea of how many kits and soldering irons we have?)
- Intro to BBC Microbit: If I find time I can bring a few kits and run an informal intro
Exhibitors: (I have added set up requirements as well)
- Mobile camera WiFi mBot rover by Franscisco Domingues Roman
To set up he will need a table, screen, some cardboard to build a ad hoc circuit for the robot. Arrival at 12 (directly from the airport and his US trip!). - Orion Robots by Danny Staple (table)
- Soulsby Synthesizers: 8-bit Arduino-based synthesizers
Here till 1pm (table and power needed) - Martin Lindupp - Arduino based drone flight controllers, tricopters & quadcopters (table)
- Adriano / Mellissa - IoT board with WiFi & BLE (Arduino programmable) (table/power)
- Nicholas Humfrey - EtherSia Demo of IPv6 library for Arduino (table / power)
- Steven - Arduino Magic trick (table)
- Russ - NFC projects (table)
The fun part is that everyone is going to arrive at different time so we should set up for flexibility! I should be there at 9.
I will run a workshop at 10.30 am about the arduino as well.
How many people are you expecting to bring from “outside” the space?
Good point, we have 2 very good soldering station and 2 not so good .
BTW, can someone take our soldering iron back from the mechanic , please?
How many people are you expecting to bring from “outside” the space?
If you meant RSVPs we have 85 so far on our meetup page but it’s really hard to know how many will come, if you meant exhibitors/volunteers we should have about 10.
