Any hifi electronics experts?

I was donated a Marantz 1040 amplifier a while ago by a family member, its quite nice but it has a few issues unfortunately. The sound tends to fizzle out once it gets warm. I know nothing about electronics but it would be nice to learn more about how it works and how to fix it. There seem to be some pretty able people getting into very technical stuff about hifi electronics a while ago on discourse, are there any experts who would be around on a thursday meet night to help me figure out what’s wrong and walk me through fixing it ?

This may be sacrilege, but failing that it’s a very lovely control surface to stick some Arduino-to-x gubbins behind or a home theatre PC into.

Get the service manual and i will be happy to help you fix it .

There should be room for a raspberry pi

Let me know when you get the manual and are going to bring it in and i will bring in my audio test set and loads .

print it out and we good to go

Great thanks Joe, I’ll come down with it when I’m back after easter. Hopefully I’ll find a way to lug it down on the bike (its big)
@tobyspark Its quite a good amp I’ve been told and fixable so I’ll try to keep it arduino-free for now.

@joeatkin2 I’ll finally have time to bring it down this week, for the thursday evening meet perhaps if you’re around for that ?

Will be about
