[Advice Request] 3D print - labradoodle ornament

Hi all,

I’m printing a labradoodle tree ornament for a friend of a friend. The support needs look pretty ruff (heh). Any chance anyone has some advice on slicing params I could tweak to get the material down and lower it from being a 3 hour print?

how I’ve sliced it: just defaults, mostly because I don’t really know what I can appropriately tinker with.

thanks a bunch! Any advice is appreciated

Doing just critical supports:

gets it down, quite a bit – but I worry it won’t print well (specifically at the top loop)?

You can paint supports and put in support blockers in Bambu Studio. You can add supports to an area such as the top loop if you feel those are needed. See e.g. video below.

How strong do you need it? If just an ornament, then you could get by with 2 walls and minimal fill - 5% even. Layer height will depend on quality you want. Consider the seam.

Rather than spend ages trying to shave a few minutes from the print time, make use of that print time for doing something else in the space….

Thanks for that, @dannz , appreciate it (and that was much easier to draw supports than I expected)

Not worried about strength beyond the hook not snapping too easily. My worry was more overhangs.

As for time, I just didn’t want to be blocking the printer from other people for too long if I could avoid it
