I have a hoody that was part of my uniform at an old job. It’s very comfortable and so I was thinking I’d like to remove the old workplace designs and add something custom as a project for whenever I get the opportunity to get inducted with screen printing.
Does anyone have any advice for removing the old sports direct labels whilst keeping it all nice and soft inside ? managed to make some progress having a pick at it.
This looks like it might be a plastisol print (common for large quantity prints that need to remain on a garment and stay vibrant for a long time)
Best bet is probably using the heat press and some greaseproof paper to slowly heat it up and try to peel it off.
Some residual stickiness may remain (which could possibly be removed with acetone as Sophie’s post above mentions but be very careful of fumes and do not combine acetone and heat.
You can buy specialist removers (look for things like “HTV Remover”) but, if it’s just the one item, it’s probably not worth the cost.
You’re unlikely to get a completely smooth “as if it was never there” finish after removing it but you could probably block it out with a solid screenprint or some HTV vinyl and then print an image over that
