Advice needed - mitre rip cut

Hello -

I’m making myself a picture ledge.

I’m trying to rip this plank so it has 45 degree edges. I tried doing with a tracksaw today and made a pigs ear of it because of improvised clamps needed to stop things slipping.

I dont know how to use the table saw, and am keen to do it myself rather than have someone else do for me.

Is there a better way to do this using tools included in basic induction?

Greta

we have the miter shooting board. This might only do a fixed length though. I am in the space this evening (4-7) if you come down we might be able to make a jig that will be able to work the came way without the side supports

something like

When are you in Greta, I can either show you how to clamp tricky pieces with the track saw or supervise you on the table saw

Thanks both! I’m in tonight but doing inkscape course 18.30-21.30. I can come for 6pm if time to do before or can stay after if not too late.

6PM will work for me we can discuss options I will have to leave you to make the thing when you get time though
