Polypropylene seems to be fine from what ive read.

@lasertechs need to answer this as there is no longer a permitted materials list on the tool page.

Be hard to see why not…but it might be melty and messy? So make provision for that if you get the go-ahead.

You can cut Polypropylene but you need to get the settings just right as it melts a lot, PP cannot be etched for this reason.

I’ve only cut 0.8mm sheets before but it cuts well.

I’ll second this with PP - except I never found the right settings! It either didn’t cut or melted and resealed itself. Nowhere near as nice to work with as acrylic.

I can imagine that’s more of an issue with thicker PP sheets.

Thanks for the tips!
That’s what I’ve heard too.
I’ve bought some .8 to do some trails on.

I was thinking that acrylic might be too brittle. And might not like being chucked about too much.

Hence I was looking for more rugged material

Acetal/Delrin is meant to be good.

Yeah PC (polycarbonate) and PMMA (acrylic/perspex) won’t hold up to impact damage on their own, PMMA is especially bad. POM (Delrin) would be a good choice.

We could do with a plastics material library too!

Does any one know where I can buy Delrin?
I’ve only seen it in 1000mm x 600mm ish @ c£160

I think I just need something that’s softer. Less brittle than acrylic.

There’s a load of plastic suppliers on the suppliers list.
