5GHz router?

I have a fast fibre connection to my flat, and the devices that connect with wires show a lovely 50M plus speed.

Unfortunately the WiFi sometimes doesn’t match this. At the moment I have a cheap 2.4GHz tp-link router, and being in a flat in central London so it seems do a lot of other people.

The 5GHz band is relatively free, though. Would it be worth getting a router that will let me use 5GHz too?

Anybody got any recommendations?

I use this at home, bare in mind 5GHz range is substantially less, if you have a larger house or thick internal walls, you’ll need more than one, and a mesh network solution might be better.

Went with a Google WiFi mesh network in the end.
