3D printing replacement glass tulip for smashed lamp

I have a very nice vintage lamp, no idea on the make/model for a replacement that was accidentally broken over the weekend.

I know a glassblower will be insanely expensive to replace. I don’t know the make/model to search for a replacement. But I know many people are 3D printing very nice lamps these days with similar translucence to the glass tulip in the pictures.

Does anyone have any material recommendations? Thinking of printing on one of the Bambus

Hey Matt!

For something like this, definitely a translucent type of material would be good, I’m not sure we have any translucent Filament for the Bambus but we may still have some translucent resin that could do the job, especially for light pass through

I’ve never printed anything with light consideration but definitely something translucent would be nice and you can typically get it in an array of colours

And if you do have to pick up any materials (translucent Filament) double check with the 3D techs and they can check to see if any materials you pick up yourself are good to use on the printers in the space!

Anyway hope this helps in some way

I tried to track down a make and model for this with no luck. The best search terms I got that return a lot of similar style results was “mid-century danish pendant lamp,” and further down the line I actually ended up finding your Reddit post.

Bambu do a translucent PETG in various colours. Opacity is increase by having more walls / thicker print.
