Hi, does anyone have any advice on commercial 3D printers to buy around the £2000 - 3000 pound mark. I am hoping to try and get funding to get one, though I’m not sure where to start. I’ve been looking at the makerbot replicator ones any other suggestions at all?? Thanks!
Ultimaker have held the crown for a long time.
Makerbot are in trouble, aren’t they?
I like the Ultimakers, but my £250 Geeetech kit was much better value! You could get 10…
I think what was attracting me to the Makerbot Replicator + was the bed size. It would mean some of the components we would build would be one piece rather than 2. I’ll have a look at the ultimaker though. Thanks. I’m sure there is room for 10 printers… I would love it though. i’ll add it to my research list though. THanks
IMHO don’t buy a makerbot period! They’re numerous stories about failure of the new one but let’s put personal preference aside. For the price you want to put in there are much better printers.
The new Ultimaker are really good and I guess you can’t go wrong there but they are a bit over your budget
This BCN Sigma machine is pretty awesome and had some pretty amazing review recently
Zortrax are really good machine but I hate the proprietary filament making anything that you want to print twice the price
Finally I will buy 2 or 3 Prusa I3 MK2s fully assembled if I had that budget Those are awesome printer that rival the big name at the fraction of the cost.
Build Volume 25.2 x 19.9 x 15cm
This has not improved since the Replicator 2 and 15cm in height is way to small you’ll be limited really quickly by it
Thank you Laurent, that’s really helpful. Your views on the Makerbot seem pretty much the same everywhere i’ve asked… I probably should listen. I’ve just come across the prusa I3 MK2 - it does looks really good for the price and rave reviews. - Could well be a good place to start. The reason for the larger print bed is that one of the first things that we would have use for is large rectangular and flat, so at the moment the height isn’t so important. I could break up the model into smaller pieces then glue them but the Rep+ was just about the right size.
