Would this get me arrested if I made it

I would love to make this:

However… my only concern is that i’ll get arrested as soon as I turn it on in London… What are your thoughts?

( For those who are curious I would actually use the light to film super slow motion 1000fps or higher / video production )

We could also make a makerspace ‘m’ stencil

So we could put the m in the sky like batman

Wow. That’s bright.
I was looking for something along that vein a few weeks ago. I ended up renting this which was fairly decent. Its about a third of the lumens but only draws a tenth of the power.

Do you need the battery ? A normal 2000W fixture will do the same job and costs almost nothing to rent

What are you filming ? Sounds interesting

powered by lipos so it’s portable

Nice, like to see this sometime if you make it. I’m also looking into some diy portable lights, but I don’t need quite that much power.

With a small crew of 5 or less and no tripod you’re supposed to be ok but a big light might get you shut down. If you happen to be on a semi-private patch of ground (like a park) you could even get fined if it looks like a professional shoot. I find its usually best to get a permit for peace of mind.

Wow. Would love to see it! Where are you planning to use it? And what are you filming at that speed? For avoidance of grief and danger, I would avoid: airports/low flight paths, government and military buildings, private property without written permission, anywhere it might shine into homes…
And as a general rule, avoid carrying “strange boxes visibly full of liquid and batteries with wires sticking out” on public transport. People can be a bit funny about that…

Yeah, +1 to the “not near low flight paths” etc. I would also add anywhere near a main road or train track.

In fact personally I wouldn’t want to turn that on anywhere in London (or actually for flightpaths and planes, anywhere in the south east).

Ok well once I save a little on the side i’ll get the LED’s

do you know how much the parts would cost in total? sounds like a great toy to have!

Depends on the quality of the LEDs and if you have any lipos to use with it already

Might order some high cri leds from yuji at some point. They are the super colour-accurate ones featured in the diyperks youtube videos.

Anyone interested in splitting the $25 delivery charge?
