Flat cap, waistcoat, white shirt and a quick internet download - sorted.
That’s the day when kids go to school dressed as characters from films?
A quick Google tells me you’re okay there: there have been at least two films made of this…
Good work there Rich!
Well, technically a book character but there’s a lot of overlap…
It’s definitely a book character. Elsa, from Frozen OTOH…
There will be Elsas…
I have a Wonka bar from Fao Shawrtz in NYC, it’s 10 years old now and hasn’t gone off!
World Book Day starts tomorrow I think? Maybe today. Roald Dahl hey, genius! Fave film but only with Gene Wilder.
The first year of WBN - I had grabbed a copy of ‘Cloud Atlas’ by David Mitchell in WHSmith in Heathrow to Dublin when it came out and then it was on the WBN voting list. I loved it so much I applied and got 48 copies of it to give to the World! I have one and know where 10 of them are, it’s a documentary in the making to know where the others are … (they all have numbers that can be followed, a paper kind of gps).
It is a great read and in my library cus I’ve read it more than once.
That was the first WBN. That was a full sized book. Over the next 2 years, the books got smaller and the amount of books gifted halved, fair enough but the 3rd was ‘Judge Dredd’ from 2000AD and was almost A5size in B&W microscopic! I didn’t know that when I applied and got a very small sad box of tiny Judge Dredd
This years website is baffling, too cluttered for me!
On that trip to Dublin I also grabbed a copy of ‘Rant’ by Chuck Palahniuck, the ‘Fight Club’ author and that is a very strange and very fabulous book too.
Gonna go check my Wonka bar
Waaa! You need to Google!? Get yeself to the 1971 film without delay! Skip the setup and go straight to them entering the chocolate room. From thereon in, it’s fabulous on so many levels.
I’d link a YouTube clip, but I can’t find one that has the oompa-Loomis cap to the ‘Pure imagination’ song.
I was being silly/riffing on the story that World Book Day often results in kids dressing as characters from films, and also the ‘quickGoogle’ thing…I’ve seen that movie many times, and also the one where Jonny Depp plays Wonka as dubious-reputation-with-children MJ.
…I did wonder. It seemed a little out of character!
Eva does a good Oompa-Loompa song, if you’re ever in the market =]
Johnny Depp, Tim Burton version is awful, walked out!
