I would like to propose a “Make a leather card holder” workshop to take place on the 26th June between 12pm and 3pm. Please see details below:
A 3 hour workshop, Studio Nelle will show participants the basics of leather-work. Participants will learn how to cut, finish and hand stitch leather to make their own unique leather oyster-card/business card holder. Made all more personal by stamping initials into the finished card holder to add a truly personal touch to the finished piece.
The process:
Participants will start with a pre cut piece of leather with stitch holes - cut a small rectangular piece of leather for leather stamping.
Stamp Leather
Rivet stamped leather to card holder piece.
Stitch and finish card holder
The workshop Includes:
+safe usage of equipment, tools such as sewing needles, and cutting knifes
how to cut leather
hand punch holes in leather
hand sewing skills using the traditional saddle stitch method
hand stamping techniques
Cost of the workshop is £350.00 which includes all materialst. The workshop is suitable for 8-10 people.
The price is high, but we could use some of the GLA funding to subsidise the cost. Would anyone be interested in this workshop?
I wanted to introduce myself as Chanelle the maker behind Studio Nelle and the person that has proposed this leather workshop. It’s great to see so much interest in the workshop.
I see there is some issue with date availability and wanted to suggest some alternative dates:
Sunday 19th June DAY/EVE
Wednesday 22nd june EVE
Friday 24th June EVE
Wednesday 29th June EVE
0voters
Let me know if any of these dates are workable, I’m also open to discussing splitting the sessions into two so half a group on one day and half another day?
I have also included a pic from a workshop I did yesterday.
So the proposed dates are fast approaching and with only 3 votes, I think on this occasion I will suggest takening the offer of leather Oyster card workshop off the table.
How many attendees are needed to make it viable? Maybe that the vote is buried in the forum and @events could help communicate this, I think 7 or so people were interested, I’d suggest the number of voters isn’t a true representation of people willing to participate… Hopefully we can find a way to make this happen, just remember makerspace happenings take longer than in other realms of life…
