Coo! And - @conomara’s photo? Props!

No that photography guy that came around for a bit.

I feel dirty , and not in a good way

Colin? The guy who expressly didn’t give permission for the GLA to use his images?

He gave us permission for something

We were quite specific about what images they could use.

Definitely didn’t include his ones!

EDIT: well that’s my recollection

Correct. We gave them 4 photos and this wasn’t one of them. (see our email of 29th Jan)

I certainly wouldn’t get into he said/she said on this as it’s possible we pointed them to the Flickr group and I think it’s in that.

Looking at the emails between us and Colin however you are right the GLA didn’t seek permission from him at last we spoke.

They really should know better!

Yes, equally they could have just looked for photos of our project online and found this as we used it quite heavily for a while.

We need to get some good photos once we reopen and it’s all tidy.

Would be nice to know what was said about us at this event.

There’s been a Twitter™©® mention…

A friemd of a friend was there, that’s who passed on the postcard, so I’ll ask her.

I guess that’s exactly what they did.

It’s a bit poor to just use an image without checking the rights.

Which I just did, in case they’d been accidentally set to something else, but no. ARR: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cgpstudio/15792754513/in/pool-southlondonmakerspace/

Lets not worry about it, it’s not our fault they’ve used the image.

yeah, i don’t think i ever took a photo in or at the space, but cool

In general under the law of the UK you cannot prevent photography of private property from a public place. Also the owner of the copyright in the photograph is the photographer… Not a lot you can do for an external shot of the space taken from a publicly accessible alleyway …

if they copied one of your own pics, that is technically an infringement as the right stays with the photographer for 70 years. again, not sure there is much you can do about it though.

The photographer is a guy called Collin Gorlay who was a member for a while. It’s his day job, so he’s particular about his copyright.

it would be an interesting argument especially if the image was used on other public material. Not sure I would take the Mayor on over it

We asked Colin if he was happy for the GLA to use his photos. He said no.
