Is this still a go-er?
Weld all of the things
I’ve kind of fallen out with LHS, Tom. Before I connected the welder, unfortunately.
Not Machine Mart! I think things are likely to go wrong so we’d be better off going through a specialist supplier.
This is a great forum:
Something like this might be good - often recommended but I’ve never used one myself
I believe it’s still available. Their last communication was “take it take it!”
We’d also need an auto-darkening helmet. Makes learning so much easier. I know we have helmets on the Makerspace - are they auto, @joeatkin2 ?
Yes , good you are here is that a ok mig ?
There you go. If anyone is a member of LHS, go grab it! Might even be worth paying someone to fix it rather than buying a cheap welder if we can’t get it going.
I don’t think membership is even an issue. Just say SLMS sent ya!
I’m not a member of that group, is anyone able to post there and check if it’s still a thing?
Done
@RichM is there a gap in the market for 3 phase mig’s that can’t go into the smaller user market , if so a second hand 3 phase might be the cheapest option?
I don’t have the experience to know but it might be worth you taking a look
Seems the LHS machine is trashed.
Just the firstish Google hit
I’d rather buy one with a torch that’s designed as working…
Good brand though
Looks promising. Do we need a pledge drive so we know our budget?
Yeah, a pledge drive might be helpful here. If we have a good budget in mind, then we’d know just how pro we can afford to go.
Edit: It’d probably be a good idea to go into a pledge drive with an outline kit idea, something like:
(n)x masks
(n)x pairs of gauntlets
Welding Curtain
MIG Welder

I have no idea if this would be any good ?
I think that we should let @RichM look after this one as nobody else has got a clue.
