Teach me 101 Mechanical Engineering

Hi,

I’ve been programming for a long time, but I’ve only used a soldering iron twice in my life.

I have lot’s of projects I would love to hack around with that require some hardware. It would be really nice to learn the basics. Like just enough to play with a motor, Arduino, a light, gyroscope and a compass.

I could I suppose try and learn it on my own, but I feel like a mentor would help me along much faster for this one.

Thanks guys!

Probably worth going to a µMeet and quizzing some other attendees.

Yes, uMeet on thursday night would be ideal

Yes μMeet is perfect for this.

We have plenty of Arduino stuff to play with.

Short of breadboards at the moment…sure there were a few?

I assume I need a member ship to show up?

Or can I show up and sign up for a membership the day I do. If I come for μMeet that is

Thanks guys!

Yeah, we normally let people come to one or two if they want to try it out but yes.

I thought it was now electronics night?

Come along and me and Marco would be happy to help you.

Sorry, I’ve been so busy, still am, but I would love to stop by ASAP

Hi Andreas I’ll be able to show you around on Thursday night (Electronics night) where pretty much anything goes. I’ve build a few robots and XYZ Tables before.
You more than welcome to come to the public open evening on Wednesday as well, however I will not be there. I’m in nearly every Thursday for the Electronics night (μmeet)
