I’ve got a board for my mould so I’m all good! Thanks!

I’ll be down Sunday evening if you can get them for then I’d be interested, I’m making test moulds for a hearth, so one large piece and enough left over to make the walls about 2in high. Cheers!

BandQ self leveling id a easy fiber cement just add watter

Hey Joe!

Does it look like nice polished concrete when it drys? I wasn’t sure if it would be the nice quality I’m after. But if it is that sounds ideal.

Is it this one? https://www.diy.com/departments/tarmac-floor-leveller-25-kg/136772_BQ.prd

if you’re casting against melamine, then you’ll get it looking glassy smooth.

might be worth thinking about the edges, if you mould into a box structure you will get sharp 90 degree corners , problem with this is the will be a weak spot and crumble/chip easily, with silicone around the edges it will stop liquid leaking out and give a roundover edge, I can bring in a silicone smoother to get perfect edges if you want

I’d been thinking how avoid sharp fragile edges. Ill be in Sunday if you can bring it in that be great.

Make sure you smooth the silicone and then trim off any excess. Try to get as even a curve as possible or you’ll have wonky edges.

Silicone, and an edge tool, available from all good b and qs

Still need to trim off any excess. Try to trim as close to the edge as possible. At least that’s what the guy did in the video I watched.

True. @Esther_Gladstone has this magic looking tool that makes cauking look like both magic and a massive breeze, which does all this in one swipe.

Is that one of those little silicone squares with the corners cut off? They’re great.

Nah it’s like that, but on acid. It has sharp bits and blades and everything.
