Shutter Buttons

Anyone else notice that the shutter buttons have been a bit of a pain to operate recently?

Thinking of buying some new ones?

Something with weaker springs would be nice!

Unlikely, it’s not the springs, but the waterproof gasket.

Can we not buy form China this time

Actually the shutter buttons are not from China.

I am considering this arrangement:

Postage: £3.99

VAT: £5.86

Total: £35.13

If the buttons are failing let’s replace them.

Is the buttons then? I thought was the card reader…

Thats a different issue.

I find the buttons are fine. It’s the reader

The reader hasn’t been an issue for me, but the down button is knackered, cuts in and out causing the shutter to stop and start over and over.

I’m referring to this problem… I thought that was the reader not reading that caused the shutter to behave weird… if it’s the buttons even better… Let’s just change it…

Once you put the tag on the reader you can remove it, and hold the button, it will keep the buttons active for 5 seconds after the tag is presented or the buttons were last pressed.

I checked last night it’s almost certainly the buttons.

The down button isn’t happy at all, it gets stuck towards the end and sounds like it’s catching in it’s frame. Doesn’t do this going up though. At one point it seemed like the shutter wasn’t going to close at all because it left a foot or so gap at the bottom! Not good for security.

Sorry, I meant to post this a couple of days ago, I totally forgot!

I’ve ordered the replacement should arrive Monday 24th October.

I wouldn’t have left the space without the shutter secured, thankfully it did shut. I didn’t know who to contact if it hadn’t been securely shut. I guess there should be a simple protocol of ‘who to call’ when security is an issue. ?

There’s contact numbers in the ‘how to access the space’ post

The button works even if it is a little tricky to close for now.

Got it, thanks.

The parts arrived but was let down by Rapid recommending the wrong parts…

There is an error in size:

As such they are sending out replacement contact elements that should fit:

It’s so much easier to operate but the RFID reader will not fit inside, so @joeatkin2 you need to find some time to make us a remote antenna ASAP.

I also need someone to help me fitting this as it requires digging around in the wall.
