Hey guys, having trouble with this print! I’ve messed up the exposure time a few times but I think this try should be ok. 1st try the coat was quite poor which left patches.
2nd try was definitely overexposed but the coat was nice and even
Hunting for general tips really if anyone has any thoughts on what I should do for something like this with possibly too much detail
Messed up exposure time? It should be standardised on 3 minutes and not something to really alter at all.
Are these laser or inkjet transparencies? I can’t tell from the photo but they also have to be 1 bit images, either black or transparent with no grey at all, all intermediate tones with dithering alone. This looks like it has a lot of fine detail that might be a bit of a challenge.
Inkjet! I’ll keep it at 3 mins this time because my coat is good
Black and white, I think it’s the fine detail that’s proving to be tricky but there isn’t any grey in there
1 more run should do the trick
It’s getting into the weeds but your mesh size should be the size of the raster when you’re exporting the artworks. Try it on a 77 mesh screen. You might just be a bit too ambitious on this for now though.
Looks like it’s just too much detail for the size and mesh count of the screen! I would reprint larger halftone pixels or do one of the images but twice the size and see how that goes.
When you print the screen is it barely showing, or over saturated?
This looks better than my previous attempts
Next time definitely lowering the resolution for my own sanity

Need Expertise advice.
Although I have done the induction.. I am afraid after looking at these posts that my idea to screen print might not be great for my case!
May I confirm that images such as this one and of a person (my dad) wouldn’t show up with high quality for screen printing please ?
Or perhaps may someone advise how?
Of course I may need to use a fine screen printer for quality.
*Edit: Would it be better to use a D2G printer from Printify or similar online brands? For these cases.
I was hoping one day I could do all the printing myself but oh well..

When did you do the induction? Did you prepare any of your own art work on it?
This is completely unsuitable as an image to screen print, gradients are a whole thing and those shadows are just not possible.
It’s not a question of quality, it’s more that just isn’t a printable image. Your artworks need to be in black and white only, that would need a lot of work to make it into multiple transparencies that you then print in other colours.

I was hoping there was a suitable method in the space.
I realise there isn’t now, hence my question, and I’ll use online printing companies.
Hopefully I’ll try using the screen printer for single or double colour projects when I make them.

DTG or a DTF transfer would be the best option for a design like this
Thanks for all the help guys! I think a better emulsion coat would help with the streaks on the bottom, and more focus washing those parts, the white space had some detail that didn’t make it through but I can live with that, overall a fun first attempt after induction!
