hiya,
i would lke to make a proposal for delegated projects.
background:
there are members that want to do stuff
there are few people able to properly act them out
there is time wasted by people not doing the correct things
there is a bottle neck of work that needs to be done and is slowing down progress with the build and running of the space.
definition:
i would suggest that a project proposal section should be added to discourse. in here threads could be started introducing a specific project that needs working on. eg finishing the sink. maybe directors are the only people that can add them? members can raise a “lets have a project about xyz” in normal discoustion area - and then it gets offical thread in projects if agreed.
all relavenat info about that project is “managed” in the thread" eg outcomes / tools / budget / skills/ time frame/ blah blah .
projects can be big or small, simple complicated. size doesnt really matter. but i guess this would make sense for some things and not for others. you dont need to start a project to say you want to get in. but maybe theres a project to sort out the card readers.
its a way of documenting what needs doing,
once a project is discussed, people can ask to get involved in working on them. this would mean delegation would be posable and a list of projects would be accessable.
hand holding [cant think of better phrase] and guidance would be given on projects by more skilled members.
relationships and trust would start to be developed and less mistakes would be made.
examples:
electorincs bences.
bath room storage
kitchan storage
the kitchen counter
tool storage
inductions
health and safty
the door access card reader
etc

I think that the problem is that 7 have been given to me to do .
I am trying but it’s going to take a bit of time

Can you further delegate? There are 118 of us!
do you think what i have proposed would be helpful?
would it improve the delegation process?
or is it just a nice idea that would just be adding more red tape and work for already over stretched core members?
in my mind the answer to these questions are not clear. and i value your view on it. be brutally honest.
i guess ideally when im thinking about this, i am thinking about someone else being able to colate the information in the proposal and a skilled person being able to monitor it. adding support and feedback. but having less “work” to do.
perhaps this is nothing more than formalising what is already happening and is just beuracratic time comsumming ball ache.
For construction, this is what the @forepeople role was designed to do. However as you say, people have more time and energy for doing jobs than talking about them.
Anyone who wants to help , feel free
maybe all that needs doing is we ask you what help you need?

ild like to see this in place in the future, and if we are going to be redsigning the forum i think now would be a good time to add a projects section to the forum.
for now, though perhaps just helping Joe [and others] as much as possible is the way to go.
To avoid confusion with #members:projects, this should be called something more like “maintenance” or “installation”. Ongoing work to maintain and upgrade the space and its facilities.
I think it’s a useful category of things and worth bearing in mind if we shake up the Categories.
projects may not just be physical.
they could be “looking at governace”, “how to engage more female members”, “blah blah”
Yes. And I imagine they’d be much more formally structured and moderated than Discussion
I’ll sort these. The hold up with the kitchen is partly finishing the counter (which should be done this weekend), mostly waiting for a new floor in the main space.
I can happily fiddle with storage in both of these spaces.
Cool (io)
The thought of us putting a new floor in makes me want to cry.

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding that the new floor is not removing the old floor, but covering it with a very thin ply and varnishing it, could be done in a weekend if we can get people on the job.
This is how I understood it.
I am not experienced on any of these jobs but I am up to help tomorrow, (if something is still anything )?
