Membership concession

Hello…Is there a concessionary rate for pensioners and is it possible to pause or stop/start membership? I did email the directors a week ago but haven’t had a reply.

@directors might be a bit busy. We are all volunteers so sometimes things can take a bit of time. The directors are able to do refunds, so you could sign up and then ask them.
Yes you can pause membership.

Hi Lia, it’s fantastic that SLMS are all volunteers and I appreciate that a reply from directors might not be instant…I was keen to get going on woodwork induction and Brendan suggested Discourse…

Welcome @Roger from a fellow pensioner and Freedom Pass holder. It’s great to see a wide range of ages in our diverse community, sharing a common interest in making things.

Re concessions; for fairness there needs to be published criteria, I don’t think this has been done yet. If/when it is debated, I would propose that members on Universal or Pension Credit be considered.

Thanks for your message. If you’re a 3d printing advisor then we shall meet sooner or later (later in the year but happy to avoid run up to Christmas if it gets too busy) as that’s another area I’m interested in,

I think you may have offered to help me find my way through Discourse this evening. But I can’t find your message. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it but am still badly in need of guidance.
I think I managed to add my name to the woodwork induction waiting list but don’t know how to find it again.
Anyway, if there’s another time someone can help

From the homepage, there’s a button at the top that likely says “latest” press that and switch to “categories”
Then you should be able to navigate through the grouped messages to
Inductions >> induction waiting lists >> basic wood workshop induction list

I’ll try that…I need to get the hang of Discourse…I feel all at sea with it…and there’s specific things like I was told to change my temporary password which I did, but the next day the new password didn’t work but the old one did. Now I can’t find where to change it again. I should sit down with someone and go through it slowly but surely,
