My house move has slowed down a bit so Ill be posting the reminder for μMeet for a little bit longer.
Ive been playing some more with the Esp8266 WiFi enabled microcontrollers towards using them to monitor and control my home environment. Also Ive bought one of the new official touch screens for the raspberry pi with the aim of using it as a head unit for my home internet of things. Ill bring them along this week.
If theres interest i can do a mini talk on how to get started with the many types of Esp8266 boards and how to use the arduino Ide to flash your program to the device.
This would have to take place after the laser cutter inductions planned for Thursday due to the noise.
As usual members will be working on there own projects.
All levels of experience are welcome. If your stuck ask for some help, If youve got something to show and attendees are interested please feel free to show off.
If you have an idea for a more formal show and tell or demonstration, get in touch and we can arrange a date and time for it to happen.
I’ll be there to mess around with electronics. I’m sure we can all peacefully coexist. The induction wasn’t that bad last time noise wise. Just the extractor. I’m looking forward to listening in to get a refresher on the trotec too
I didn’t know about the official touchscreen! Have now ordered one, should arrive tomorrow - could be exactly what I need in order to finish my project off. Might be time to join up then - can I do that tomorrow at the μMeet?
Ive managed to get another device working with the Esp8266.
The INA219 High Side DC Current Sensor Breakout - 26V ±3.2A Max. https://www.adafruit.com/products/904
Just a couple of minor changes to the adafruit library for the device to change the I2C pins.
This is going in my Landrover to monitor the voltage drain of the gps tracker while its sitting on my drive. Ive found it can drain the main battery of the vehicle over time if I dont use the vehicle enough.
This device will run periodically check the vehicle battery and log it to an IoT server such as thingspeak. I can set up an alert to tell me if the battery is getting too low.
Ill bring it along tonight.
