Festool are good but extremely expensive, works for some people , but personally not my favourite, and they tend to lock you into that brand .
makita , I have never had a bad experience.
My rule of thumb is check if the tool is made in a 110v variant , because that indicates that it is intended for professional use .
B&Q scrwfix cheap ones are often ok and very cheap , but a bit of a gamble as to how long it will last and if it works as well as you hope. But half the time it’s a pleasant surprise
Professional suggests the tool is of quality that it will stand up to daily use and is good enough for really good ‘professional’ results.
While it being a site tool means it’s safe for use on site as it goes through a 110v isolation transformer.
In reality whilst 110v tools might be professional all it really means is they are site tools. It’s just a subtle difference, but it seems wrong to suggest 110v tools are all professional grade tools.
Sorry I missed you today, came late afternoon…just as the downpour started.
The place looked amazing!!! been longtime since I visited. I’m back in London now after some work abroad, will you be in on Sunday to go through the rotary saw?
I can also help with any build work…if you need a extra pair of hands or just general cleaning and moving jobs…I can find time midweek daytimes…let me know…@dermot do need any help with the silkscreen setup?..so happy you guys got the big table!
I have a Festool track saw and yes they are expensive but worth it for the quality. The makitas and dewalts are fine aswell. But you get abit more out of the Festool.
I can help you out aswell if needed. I haven’t been down to the space in a while due to work so need any excuse to come in.
But if you’re gonna buy a saw go for plunge with a guide rail over circular. The blade only comes out when you decide to start cutting and goes back in when you are done.
Yeah be great to meet up at the space, I have some bits of timber I can bring to practice on…be great to see the Festool track saw in the flesh…I’ve used the Makita so be interesting to compare.
