I’m looking for a laser material which would work as a user interface panel. Ideally this would be one of those two-colour laminates with a white core - but it should also conduct and diffuse LED light through the core, but not necessarily the top laminate layer. I would also look to stick a layer of clear plastic on top of it to top this panel. Has anyone tried this already? If so, what materials and techniques did you use?

You could use coloured bit of acrylic that allows some light though and cut a vinyl or stickers front to mask over the places you want no light to pass…
Can you paint over acrylic and use the laser to etch through? Is that permitted in the laser?
Or stick an opaque vinyl onto the top first?
That’s a good idea. Presumably some spray paints should be fine - I’ve seen a Trotec video where they used this method on some acrylic to create a multi-colour image. I could combine that with some frosted perspex for sure. But how am I then going to be able to glue another transparent layer of plastic on top?
