Also, you check the sole and side are not wound( twisted). Your square isn’t going to tell you that unless it’s really extreme. So you sight along two sticks you know to be true. One at the front of the board and one at the furthest end. If the wood is twist free the top edges of the winding sticks will match up exactly. If the wood is twisted one side will be sticking up.
