Laser Issues

I waited incredibly patiently all evening to use the laser cutter. I finally have access and the job control is not calculating the job laser cutting time showing 0:00 and therefore not cutting. I have tried looking all over the next to see if there is an easy fix along with restarting and various other things nothing is working.

If there is anyone else up at this time that can provide a solution I would be extremley grateful.

Many thanks

Did you manage to get it to work? I had trouble earlier in the evening as it only would cut half the file, but I assumed that was just an issue with that file.

I’ve had this when my lines aren’t hairline…

Did you try un ticking the the “take from application” and "minimise to job.

Sometimes forcing the size to be as large as you can forces it through.

Laser was busy last night but don’t think any of us realised you were waiting sorry! Hope you got sorted.

I had a similar problem the other night.
I found that any cut lines I sent in blue would have a cut time of zero (and weren’t showing in the preview) . But a secondary green cut line was fine.
So I changed all the blue lines to green (or the colour below it on the cut list (153,51)) and then it worked fine.
I’m too unexperienced to have a clue why this would make a difference. Any ideas?
(all the lines were 0.001 inch wide)

This issue comes up all the time and it’s normally because we use 4+ pieces of software to feed into JobControl and each requires specific settings to make it work.

Folks need to come up with inductions on how to use it with each piece of software.

Corel Draw is the most compatible however Illustrator is more commonly used, as is AutoCAD, and then theres Inkscape… Why doesn’t 1 person who’s proficient at each write up a set of instructions on how to:

  • Set up the document colour mode, and size correctly
  • Set the fill and stroke colour and weight
  • Select similar objects by apperance/fill/stroke
  • Set up the print preferences

Onto an A4 document that can be laminated next to the laser cutter.

That way there are clearly settings for each like:

Stroke Weight:

Illustrator: 0.001"
Inkscape: 0.001"
Corel Draw: Hairline

For example?

I tried the unticking the ‘minimise to job’ and the lines were definitely 0.001" but the ‘take from application’ I don’t think I touched. I will try again next time I’m in.

Thanks!

This issue pops up every now and again for me too. Changing the line to green fixed it once as well.

Still can’t solve the ‘empty job’ issue when it comes up though. Job control is very quirky it seems. I had this happen to a file that was working fine 5 mins earlier with no changes made. Any ideas on how to fix that one ?

Glad so many had the same issue. Apologies delayed response I had back to back workshops today.

The problem seemed to be the previous persons print preference settings. Which hadnt been an issue before but changing the print preferences to my settings seemed to have a positive effect although later it happened again and had to re draw the file direct in Inkscape and this also had a positive response.

Yes had no effect.
