# Laser error code

[@lasertechs](https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/groups/lasertechs) i was using the laser, on the prepare screen on ruby, when it started to display this error message and i can’t figure out how to fix it. i tried turning it off and on again.

any suggestions? my project isnt super urgent but i would like to keep on working on it if at all possible

Really hard to say without seeing the machine as that particular error code has a variety of possible causes. Both physical and digital.

You may have triggered a limit switch which is causing the machine to lock down - is the head currently positioned on the far right side of the bed?

Another cause is your file may have something invisible in it that’s way off the bed that the software is picking up.

You can also try loading a different file and see if that works

got it working! someone came by and said to gently move the head to the left and now i can move it again

There ya go. For future reference please ensure the laser is completely turned off before moving the head.
