Laser cut sound wave image

Hey everyone,

Can I have any suggestions on how I can laser cut a soundwave image on acrylic? I made this file, I don’t know how best to tackle it. I think the spikes are to thin to have a cut out, but maybe have it engrave it on a rectangular might work?

Soundwave.ai (1.2 MB)

Thanks

they wont be too thin to cut, you will just need to remove the “fill” and only have the outline and set it to “hairline” or “0.001”.

Although looking quickly at your file it doesn’t appear possible to do it with your file.

Are you looking to cut that shape out ? Looks like its a bitmap but you can get illustator to convert it to vector by using the image trace command. You can then set the shape to an outline to send as a cut to job control. Its worth a go although depending on the size it might be a bit fragile once cut. The kerf on the laser is somewhere between 0.2 and 0.5mm depending on the power so that might shrink the shape down a bit.

If you want to just mark it on a rectangle of acrylic engraving works great and can do very very fine detail no problem

Don’t have Illustrator so can’t see the file, but if you export it as a bitmap, and re-import it as an image into a file before printing, you should just be able to engrave it.
