I’ve thrown my first batch of pots at Makerspace and I’m getting my head around glazing and firing but could do with a local guide. I’ve been recommended Kiln Share but I’ve also heard on the rumour mill that one of our members has a kiln that they rent out?
Any pointers on where to start? I love the idea of submersion glazing rather than painting on - but I’ve also heard kiln owners can be particular with what glazes they allow in their kilns so I don’t want to invest in a glaze just for it to be veto’d by the owner.
Regarding glazing, I would recommend commercial brush -on glazes available from many suppliers, please check its firing temperature matches your clay ( Earthenware or Stoneware ). With dipping glazes you would need to buy a lot of glaze material to fill a bucket.
