Kettle broken :(

It currently only heats water if you manually hold the switch in. Should I try super glue? 3D? Cut something on a CNC. I feel like we are extremely well equipped to fix this.

The safety cut out is probably stuck on, so it thinks the water is boiling.

It could easily just be limescale build up in just the wrong place. Start with a thorough descale and clean.

I realise my photo wasn’t showing the most obvious issue.

I hope the previous kettle will be given a send-off befitting it’s standing/importance.

Thanks for @Martyn_Thomas

I’m not going to be on site for a few days - so when the new one arrives - you can do the honours of sending the broken one to the great Kettle Farm in the sky

Speaking as a person who fixed this old kettle a couple of months ago, I have a friend of mine, power electronics major, very wise man, who once said to me that in general it’s not worth fixing things having heating elements and unserviceable thermal safety switches, mainly because £15 is not worth dealing with the fire aftermath.
