JobControl

Would it be possible to install JobControl on my laptop and drive the laser cutter directly from my CAD software?

I think it might be a better idea to share the printer on the local network, so the material settings are preserved.

Otherwise, I don’t see any reason why not, so long as the software license allows multiple installs.

That’s a better idea.

Is the install CD in the space somewhere?

Should be in the red case along with the manual and maintenance tools, on top of the cutter PC.

I’ll be in the space early evening today so will have a look at the license.

No, JobControl is licensed software, we only have one license so we can’t do that unfortunately.

Bummer. Ideally of course it would just be the printer driver on my laptop, and I’d still print to JobControl on the PC connected to the laser cutter…

The print driver might be covered by a different license. It would make sense. I’m here now so am trying to find out.

It’s just JobControl, you’d have to just send it with a generic printer driver and hope that JobControl accepts it.

No, they’re separate bits of software. There’s an individual installer for the print driver on the CD, with no specific license attached. Also, when you connect to a shared windows printer, it will pull the driver from the host machine for local installation, so I don’t see how you could reasonably prevent it.

We should ask Trotec to be sure, but I think it’d be ok.
