As Technical Instructor in Coding & Programming you will provide confident and informed technical support to those wishing to access, understand and explore the possibilities offered by 2D and 3D visualisation and simulation experiences and solutions in order to facilitate academic delivery. You will be joining the newly formed department for Intelligent Manufacturing and Visualisation and as such your addition to this team will afford you the opportunity to develop and expand your existing skill set as the demands of the department evolve. As a core function of the role, you will be expected to engage with research specialists, students and staff from disciplines across the RCA on a daily basis.

It is essential that candidates have specialist knowledge of coding and programming virtual, augmented and mixed reality experiences as well as developing Rasperry Pi and Arduino solutions. You will have significant experience of Unity 3D or Unreal and working knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as C#, C++, Java, Objective C or Javascript. You will also have specialist knowledge in at least one of the following: 3D scanning and data acquisition, 3D modelling and animation, motion capture, sound design for interactive applications, physical computing and wearable technology or computer vision. Relevant industry experience in a commercial sector, preferably in an R&D environment is desirable but not essential.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to use your initiative and work independently or as part of a team. You will have excellent organisational, time management and planning skills with the ability to prioritise as appropriate. Experience of working in higher education is an advantage, although not essential.
