Internet upgrade

If I was to choose an alternative it would be to either pay for more bandwidth or use Zen.

They are the only decent ISPs for business I’ve used.

April (restart) and may (ex mechina) are high.

I don’t see how those would be high internet use events

I guess a roomfull of guests checking their facebook on our wifi all adds up.

I agree, I don’t see it being the case

I don’t know if there was. I was asking really whether that was the cause, or if there could have been something else instead. Paul has just reminded us that the Restart party was in the same month, so the excess over the average might possibly be accounted for in the extra usage from visitors to those two events. Something seems to have happened in April to make the usage spike up above the other months.

A windows 7 computer downloading win10 in the background might do it?

Yeah possibly. Either way it’s not an issue right now.

What about “auto update when on wifi” stuff on smart phones.

You can probably block a few sites on the router

The film probably not.
But maybe the restart.
People hanging around waiting.
Checking YouTube face book blah blah.

Yeah just trying to get a gauge really.

I think a problem is being made here when there isn’t one, I’ve asked for faster broadband, but we haven’t run out of bandwidth.

Most of the guys on the Arduino day course did download the IDE but that’s only a few 100mb’s each, doubt it would have made a big difference…

No problem, just discussion:

It was also a weekend so not the week day charge

Alex from Andrews & Arnold has got back in touch after @unknowndomain put in a request for a speed upgrade: “in 24 hours or so it should
jump in speed.”

Great. Thanks Tom

We should do a speed test before and after and give them a bit of social media love

I’ll do a speed test tonight and post here if I remember.
