Timely tasks like this could be part of the bus timetable-esque screen

They can probably collect more than once a week as I’ve seen first mile on the area on other days anyway.

Possibly highlighted in big flashing red text

Yeah, I might see if they can just come and shift this lot

Maybe I’m a bad member but I’ve been coming since November and kind of just realised that the bin just magically empties itself. I get we don’t wan instructions everywhere but I don’t think many people will be looking up in discourse about taking rubbish out. Maybe it idjust me, but in case it’s not could a small note near the bins be helpful?

Could have a laminated page on the bin, or in a pouch on the bin?

I agree that instructions everywhere isn’t a good look.

On the other hand, I think it might be necessary. For example, I have been inducted on the laser cutter but haven’t used it since the new extraction has been up and running - so a quick checklist of how to use it would be useful for me.

Maybe this could be done on a wiki linked from a QR code, but a laminated sign is much more accessible.

I think that would help.

Most people don’t have QR readers, however what might be a good idea is to implement this in a space induction before you get your keyholder access?

That’s the mid/long-term plan. Then everyone is on the same page.

But it changes, is my point. And some people aren’t in the Space very often to keep up with the changes.

On the laser cutter, on top of the edge of the bed at the front, just under the transparent lid, is a “cheat sheet” for the laser cutter, saying where to go on discourse to get instructions (Tools>Laser Cutter - Trotec Speedy 300).

And lo, IT WAS A GOOD THING.

I’m glad you mentioned this. I think it’s hard for new members to know this. There’s so much else going on when you first join to take in.

As Dermot said it’s a really easy procedure. But, like you’ve highlighted if you don’t know how, you don’t know.

I’m not one for signs everywhere either. But i’ld state a case for this being the exception that proves the rule.

Just had an idea. Is there a weekly activity on a Thursday where people are gauenteed to be at the space? If there was we could kindly ask that bringing the wheelie bin back was part of proceedings.

there is a free QR reader app for android and Iphone

There has to be minimum friction to getting the information across. It’s hard enough getting someone to read a sign. Hiding it behind a QR code means even fewer people will read it

What Tommen said. Also –

aka Robot Barf.

…But is that bad?

I just thought QR codes would be less visually intrusive.

Ah! Lightbulb moment!
