Help needed to cut tabletop

Hi all,

The textiles area needs a tabletop to accommodate the knitting machine. I already have table legs, but I’ll need help from a table saw user to cut a tabletop to size.

I don’t have the tabletop material, but I’m happy to pay for whatever’s needed.

Ideal dimensions: 20 - 25mm thick, 126cm x 50cm.

If anyone experienced with the saw can help cut it for us, please reply here - thanks!

Hi James,
There’s a couple of nice bits of plywood in the woodshop scrap bin at the moment. You could have a look there to see if there’s anything that fits your needs, it will save the hassle of having to get a new sheet.

Happy to help with cuts, I won’t be around for the next couple of days but can do sometime next week.

Thanks Paul! I’ll have a look for any usable material next time I’m in the space.

I’m running a woodwork induction on Friday evening - if you have materials and dimensions by then, would very happy to cut to size on the table saw for you.

Hi Ivor,

I’ve found a piece of material that I think’s usable - it had a no project tag, so I’m assuming it’s safe to use.

I’ve added a project tag, marked the corner with red marker and put it back in the space opposite the lathe:

Dimensions are on the tag (122 x 50cm) - if you have time to cut it I’d really appreciate it!

Make sure you remove the « no project tag » sticker! Otherwise if your tag fall off we might think it has been there for weeks.

@jamesnwalker - Forgot to say that I cut down to size on the weekend and left in the corner of the textiles room.

The length was only a bit longer than 122, so have left as it is - let me know if you need a bit shaved off. I gave the edges a very quick sand up to 120 grit, but didn’t have enough time to finish properly. Hopefully that helps!

That’s perfect, the length is fine as it is - thanks so much for your help!
